TEAM COMPOSITION RULES
- Each team consists of nine (9) players, including one (1) goalie and eight (8) runners.
- Of the runners, two (2) must be women
- Each team is required to wear their team colours every game.
- Games are played 4 runners vs 4 runners; 1 runner per team on the floor must be a woman.
- Should a team have no women present, they must play the game short handed.

Ringers will be permitted throughout the season, and must pay a ringer fee each week. There are no ringers allowed during playoffs.
- As of S23, men's ringer fees are exempt in situations where the team would otherwise only have 0 to 1 subs.
- - as there are two women per roster, women ringers replacing absent women on the roster are exempt ("otherwise there are 0 subs").
- - as there is one goalie per roster, goalie ringers are exempt.
PLAY RULES:
1. Each team plays 3 x 18 minute games a week.
If there are 5 or more teams, teams may rotate playing a fourth game each week.
Each team will be scheduled for the same number of games throughout the season.
2. The final 2 weeks of the season will be a playoff.
3. Games will commence promptly at game time - with no grace period.
- If you do not have the minimum amount of players to field a team, you will
forfeit the game and the game will be recorded as an automatic loss. Forfeit losses will be recorded as a *5-0 Loss with stats recorded.
Prior to Season 7, forfeit losses counted as a 1-0 Loss.
4. Tie Policy - As of S7, if a regular season game is tied after 18 minutes, there will be a 3 minute, 3-on-3 Overtime, with a minimum of 1 woman on the floor. "Next goal wins". If nobody scores after 3 minutes, the game is recorded as a Tie.
Overtime Playoff games will be played 4 on 4 until next goal is scored.
5. Goal Restart Rule - After each goal, all team members must return to their side of center before progressing with the play. The team that was scored on will start with the ball behind their goal line. First pass
past half must be complete prior to next goal. (A team must initiate or receive a pass from the opponent's zone before scoring)
As of S20, the team must wait until all players from the scoring team have returned to their side before initiating play.
The scoring team must return to their side of half in a timely manner.
6. Game Restart - If a team clears the ball out of bounds, the opposing team will receive ball in hand. Opposing team must give 1 stick lengths space, and do a count of 3 ("three Mississippi" or "three one-thousand") before pursuing possession.
7. Goalie Stoppage - Once goalie has possession of ball, the play is blown dead. Goalie must make play within 3 seconds. If played to player behind the line, the player has 3 additional seconds. If the ball is intentionally played forward by the goalie, there is no 3 second rule. Goalie cannot throw the ball.
8. Goalie Cover- Goalie can only freeze the ball if they are within the crease area (defined roughly as the box in front of the net). At least one limb must be in the crease.
9. Mandatory Team Colours - Every team has a team colour. Don't show up in another teams colour!
10. The approved runner sticks are

PLAYOFF FORMAT & RULES
Week 1 of playoffs are the the semi-finals, which are a best 2 out of 3 format, alternating between match-ups between 2nd vs. 3rd; and 1st vs 4th. The victorious teams play each other in the finals. The defeated teams play each other in the consolation final ("bronze").
Week 2 of the playoffs start with the finals and alternate with the consolation finals.
If there are five teams, the fourth and fifth place team will play in a wildcard match (best 2 out of 3). These wildcard games are played consecutively. The winner claims the "wildcard" seed and faces the top seed in the semi-finals.
Side Selection: the higher seed selects what side they play on for Game 1 and Game 3 (if necessary).
Goal Line Judge: all players on the "off" team will situate at each goal line to ref the game. Goal judge rulings are final.
Ringers: There are no ringers allowed in the playoffs.
STATS RECORD KEEPING
Player Stats: GP, Goals, Assists, Points
Goalie Stats: GP, W, Goals Against, GAA
- Following each goal, scorekeeper will yell "Goal", at which point the goal scorer must raise his/her hand clearly. Following this, the scorekeeper will yell "Assist", at which point the assisting player will raise his/her hand clearly. There will be no adjusting scoresheet after next play begins.
- Following each game, the scorecard will be submitted to Sam (League Commissioner). All stats will be updated within 1 week. Variances between scorecards will be disputed amongst captains.
ARCHIVED RULES
Shootout Rule -
Between Season 1 and Season 6, if a regular season game is still tied after a 3-minute overtime, there will be a shootout. Each team will pick 3 shooters, who alternate taking a shot. If teams are tied after 3 shots, it is considered a tie.
Stoppage Rule -
Between Season 14 and Season 18, goals cannot be scored directly off a stoppage.
There must be first pass or change of possession (just like after a goal score).
This includes when a goalie stops the ball or a ball is frozen for any reason.
